Four ways to remove mold. Here's when each one wins.

ADFT fogging, demo + rebuild, encapsulation, and DIY all have a place. Here's an honest take on each.

The four methods

Honest comparison.

We do ADFT. We'll tell you when one of the others is actually the right answer.

ADFT Fogging (ours)

Antimicrobial dry fog kills mold without demo. Best for attics, crawl spaces, large accessible areas. 1-day job.

Demo + Rebuild

Traditional method: rip out contaminated materials, scrub, rebuild. Best for severely damaged drywall, rotted sheathing, structural compromise. 2–5 days.

Encapsulation

Seal mold under a coating. Cheap and fast, but doesn't kill the mold — just hides it. Bad idea in 90% of cases. Avoid unless you understand the trade-offs.

DIY

Surface mold on bathroom tile or kitchen counters: bleach and a sponge. Anything bigger than a square foot or in porous materials: hire someone. The cost of doing it wrong is health.

So when does demo actually beat ADFT?

Honestly, not often.

If your sheathing is rotted through, structural members are compromised, or insulation is so saturated it's lost its R-value, demo is the right call. Replacement is the only fix.

If you have visible mold on intact materials — even heavy visible mold — ADFT can kill it without removing the material. The kill is at the cellular level; the visible discoloration may remain (we offer optional cleanup for that).

The honest line: if you'd already want to remodel the area regardless, demo makes sense. If you wouldn't, ADFT almost certainly does.
